A few new gems in from H&M

Hope you guys are enjoying the weekend, it’s currently 100 degrees here in the Portland area.. Bless air conditioning! I wanted to share a few favorite H&M finds that I picked up this week. I’ve been popping on the site more regularly as I typically get on with their summer collections more than any others. H&M is also having 10% off everything today, so worth a look!

H&M Ribbed Swimsuit

This swimsuit was the reason I made an order to begin with. DaraKaye recommended it a few weeks ago, I always trust her recommendations especially since we’re similar in body frame/sizing. I absolutely love the textured fabric and tortoiseshell accents on the swimsuit. You could also wear this as a bodysuit, it’s what I’ve been wearing all day!

HM Ankle-length Pants

I love the style of the slightly baggier pant, with a tailored waist, so when I saw these while browsing I knew I wanted to try them out. I like that they’re lighter weight, and the color is perfect for summer. Excited to pair it with one of my Zara cropped ribbed tanks that I love.

H&M Ribbed Dress

Ahh I love with the color and texture of this dress. If you’ve followed me for a while you know I’m a big fan of anything ribbed, I just love the added texture it brings to a piece! The fabric on this one is lightweight, perfect for summer days working from home, or weekend strolls to the farmers market.

Recipes I’ve been loving:

Berry Crostatas
Ever since trying Athena from Eyeswoon’s raspberry and thyme crostata recipe, it’s become my go-to dessert when we have fresh berries in the house. A beautiful rustic open tart with fresh berries and flaky pastry, you really can’t go wrong here. I’m considering trying a new combination this week featuring strawberries and nutella… more to come!

Muddled Raspberries & Sparkling Wine
This might be my favorite drink Cass and I have made to date. A glass of champagne/ sparking wine paired with 4 muddled raspberries. If you want to go all out, add a squeeze of lemon and ice! It’s been the perfect summer cocktail for warm days.

Things of note:

Linen Table Coverings
Confession, I’ve never purchased table coverings before. In our last place we didn’t have a proper dining table, so I never had the need. After strolling through Pinterest inspo, I was stoked to find these beautiful linen coverings at H&M. They come in quite a few shades, I opted for the white and beige - completely obsessed!

New(ish) Vintage Lamp
We scored this beautiful vintage ceramic floor lamp, think 80’s art deco style. I fell in love with the ceramic base and pleated lamp shade, a match made forty years ago that still feels relevant today! I spruced the base up a little, and will eventually need to replace the lampshade (the eighties weren’t too kind to this one). I’m trying to decide if I want to replace it with another pleated shade, like this Etsy style.. or go a more modern route with the RH linen slope shade. Decisions!

Recent Home Finds
A few home finds over the last few weeks. Love the pendant light - would love these over our island!

What I’ve been watching/reading/listening to:

The Dark Series : Netflix
We’re addicted to Dark. It’s a German mystery series on Netflix set around the disappearance of two young boys. We started it last week and already finished season one, and are halfway through season two! A great family saga with super complex characters. I recommend watching the show in German with English subtitles!

This is Not a Fashion Story: Taking Chances, Breaking Rules, and Being a Boss in the Big City
I started reading Danielle Bernstein’s book earlier this month, she’s not only an influencer, but a designer, CEO, tech entrepreneur and under 30 years old! So far I’ve been impressed with her vulnerability throughout the book. She really opens up about her past romantic relationships, family and navigating her career. A good read so far!

Federal Law Enforcement Is Making Unconstitutional Arrests In Portland: Forbes
I can’t help but note this one, as it’s too close to home not to share. Peaceful protesters in Portland are being taken off the streets, forced into unmarked vans by law enforcement without being read their rights, being told what they’re arrested for, or where they’re being taken. All while continuing to fire tear gas and sharpshooters. Linking a Forbes article here if you’d like to read more about what’s happening in Portland. It’s a scary time.

Black Owned Businesses to Support Now and Always

Over the last few days I’ve discovered tons of amazing black owned businesses. From beauty, fashion and home decor, there are so many breathtaking and inspirational brands out there to support! Let’s all be conscious of where we are spending our dollars. I know I’ve made a commitment with myself to do better 🖤🖤

The Hunt For Outdoor Furniture

Cass and I have been taking this time at home to really dig into outdoor projects. Since we moved in last November, we’ve been envisioning our front and back yard, thinking about how we want to make it us, ya know? Since the beginning of spring, we’ve planted peonies, dahlias, hydrangea bushes, laurels and more! Next step was finding the perfect outdoor furniture pieces.

The first question we asked ourselves was, do we want dining or lounge furniture? Since Cass isn’t a huge fan of eating outside (too many bugs) we decided lounge was the right choice for us. As long as I have a comfy area where I can sit and drink coffee in the mornings and work in the afternoon sun, I’m set!

I started browsing online and found that sectional pieces were catching my eye. I love the chaise and sit/lay options, so versatile and seats a good amount of people for when we have friends and family over. A lot of the sectionals I saw were pieced out too, so you could rearrange if you’re entertaining. After much deliberation, we landed on the Indio 5-piece Sectional from Pottery Barn. I loved the light natural cushions and the wood accents - so excited to see it in our space! Sharing a few of our top pieces I found whilst browsing.

And just like that, we’re in the midst of spring and it really couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m feeling reenergized by all the new life and taking in all spring notes - blooms, sunshine and warmer weather! Taking a moment to share a few things that have been bringing me joy over the last few weeks.

Oversized Sweatshirts

Sweatshirts have been a go-to in my wardrobe, especially when working from home. An easy and comfortable choice when the airs a little chilly in the morning and I just want something cozy. I picked up this oversized sweatshirt from ASOS in the color stone and blue (just got the blue in the mail yesterday!). I like that they’re lightweight so I don’t get too warm in the afternoon, and since they’re 100% cotton and wash well, I’m not afraid to get them dirty. I’ve also been getting lots of wear out of my Zara knitted sweatshirts. Unfortunately the ones I have are sold out, but they’re aways releasing similar styles like this gray one.

Floral Scent for Spring

Scents have been such a mood shifter for me during the work week. As I mentioned in my previous post, I've been spritzing perfume on after my work day to help my brain transition into the evening. The Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede scent has been my absolute favorite. It screams spring and brings even more warmth now that we’ve planted a few peonies in our own garden. Nectarine Blossom & Honey is another beautiful scent, a little more on the fruity side with notes of spring flowers.

A Sun Kissed Bronzer

This last month I’ve been on a bronzer kick and ended up purchasing two bronzers during the Sephora sale, and adore them both! I typically go for more matte shades, but I was feeling something glowy. I picked up the RMS Madeira Bronzer, a beautiful luminizing bronzer that really gives you a sun kissed feel. About a week or two later I eyed the Marc Jacobs Glow Away Bronzing Stick. It’s marketed as a cream body bronzer, but I’ve been using it on the eyes and face with a brush and it’s absolutely gorgeous - bonus points that it smells like coconuts!
