Fall Edit, Key Pieces I’m Loving For Fall

Is anyone else excited to pull out all of their knitwear? Although I will admit, I’m a bit sad to say goodbye to summer clothes (so long, till next year!), I’m fully ready to shift into fall… candles, knits, pumpkin spice - the whole deal! To get into the spirit, I wanted to share some of my favorite transitional staples, and some new lust-worthy pieces on my fall list.

Cozy Knits

Is there anything better? I love an oversized knit, in both sweater and dress form. I tend to gravitate towards these once temps start to drop, so I like to make sure I have a good selection on hand. Some of my favorites in my closet have lasted me years - so worth the investment!

Layering Pieces

I love starting with a base and playing it up from there. Right now I’m wearing a lot of tanks since it’s still pretty warm in the Portland area (loving these ones from Zara). From there you can add sweaters, jackets and coats - the ultimate layering piece. BTW, Yummie has fantastic bodysuit thong options, which I know can be hard to find!

Outerwear

Fall is the perfect time to play with heavy overshirts, blazers and coats. Shoot for something that will carry you through winter. Loving all the neutrals!

Bottoms

Excited to bring out my black pants, and might even look into a leather option this fall (these Aritiza ones are calling my name)… Also loving these knitted ones from Mango, so cute!

Shoes & Accessories

Every year I splurge on a new pair of boots, (these And Other Stories ones are on their way!). But since it’s still dry outside, I’ve been getting a lot of wear out of my white sneakers. Also been loving lighter bags and chunky gold necklaces (love this recent find!).

Thoughtful Thrills 10.2020

What a week it’s been! Between seven months of lockdown, politics and civil unrest - I’ve been making an extra effort to seek small joys throughout the day to help keep my mind at ease. Like putting on a new sweater I absolutely love (couldn’t resist this cardigan from And Other Stories). Trying a new Pesto Bolognese Lasagna recipe that made the whole house smell of comfort food, (and tasted just as good!). Replacing my beloved Shiseido eyelash curler with a limited edition gold color. And last but not least, I got some quality girl time in, which filled my cup right back up.

Cheers to finding little joys in the midst of the madness. Sharing a few thoughtful thrills from this week. Hope you enjoy the weekend!

Deep Dive Into Loungewear

With loungewear becoming a more prominent part of my everyday wardrobe, I’ve felt the need to step up my game. I’ve always been the girl who immediately changes into something comfortable after a day at work, so sweatpants and t-shirts are certainly not new to me. But I wanted to incorporate more loungewear “outfits”- pieces that were cute enough to wear all day working from home, but also comfortable enough to wear into the night.

Sets

I love a good loungewear set. Zara released some really cute ones recently, like this set I picked up in nude and green, they’re on the lighter side which has been great for this time of year. Every now and again a set will catch my eye from H&M and Bloomingdales too.

During the fall/winter the heavier sets start to come out (think knitted sets) which are ideal for lounging around the house during the colder months. I love this nude set from Zara that I picked up last year and have gotten a ton of wear out of. Mango has recently added some cute heavier styles too.

Not just for lounging

An oversized sweatshirt with leggings is a common go-to for me. I love paring my ASOS sweatshirts in blue and stone with ribbed leggings or joggers. Reformation and H&M carry some great sweatshirts too. I also love a good pair of sweatpants, like these ones I picked up at the beginning of quarantine from Belen. They’re a good mid-weight pant, great for walks around the neighborhood and errands too!

Jumpsuits & Dresses

Ahh I love the ease of throwing on a nightgown or a jumpsuit (gotta love once pieces). I have a few favorites from Anthropologie and Lou and Grey that I constantly gravitate towards, they’re so breathable and comfortable. I just recently picked up a few nightgowns from ASOS that caught my eye too, this pink nightgown and slip dress which make me feel a little more dressed up!

Slip Dress: The Styling Series

The styling series, how to style one piece multiple ways, getting the most out of your wardrobe. First up, the slip dress.

The slip dress, such a classic piece that can be styled throughout the seasons. I love adding layers (chunky cardigans, sweaters) for a more casual look during the cooler months, then stripping it down for summer nights. Check out four ways I’ve styled one of my favorite slips below.

LOOK 1: Just the slip. Such a statement piece on its own, and the color is so unique! But I’ve got to say, a black slip would look equally stunning. I paired this with nude heels which would be perfect for a date night or event!

LOOK 2: Adding a cropped chunky cardigan and white sneakers really casuals up this look. I love white sneakers with dresses (so chic!) and adding the cardigan helps transition the dress into fall and winter too.

LOOK 3: To wear the dress during the day, I like adding a T-shirt over top. I crop mine by tying them with a pony and tucking it under my shirt. Works well with sweaters and sweatshirts for chilly days too!

The Summer Fragrance I'm Taking Into Fall

IMG_7346.jpeg

The Bronze Goddess fragrance by Estée Lauder has been a near and dear favorite for YEARS. My mom officially got me hooked in early college when I first spritz her perfume. Fast forward 7 years later and I’m still obsessed! The scent screams coconut and vanilla, and each year they put out a slightly different variation. While past years scents have felt very summery (more sandlewood-y), their recent release carries strong notes of amber and bergamot that creates a deeper, more intense scent that can easily be transitioned into fall. What are your favorite summer scents? Do you have one you’ve used for years?

A Little Portland Getaway

This last week Cass and I celebrated our third anniversary. Crazy to think how much we’ve done in the last three years… Europe , Japan, bought a house and now quarantine! We wanted to celebrate and escape town for a little, somewhere social distancing wouldn’t be a problem but also somewhere new!

We booked the Portland Getaway house, a tiny cabin nestled in the woods, with a massive window showcasing the scenery (stunning!). The cabin had everything we needed including a hot shower, stove top, mini fridge, and even snacks available for purchase! The location was perfect too, about 2 hrs outside of Portland. Not too far from the Columbia river and the gorge, with lots of hiking trails and mini adventures close by (we explored the ice caves by trout lake, so neat)!

Overall, we had a fantastic time. It was just the right mix of relaxation, adventure and a little escape from home. Can’t wait to go back!
